The "Ossuary"
Our History
Small Starts
Our yard haunt started out small Halloween 2000. With just two of us scaring kids on the porch. A stuffed scarecrow in a chair, and Michael Myers using the Don Post "The Mask" as it was really the only one commercially available at the time. In 2001, it was really the same, except we were a budget version of Jason Voorhees and once again, Michael Myers.
Online Store
Some time around 1998, I had taken up making Halloween masks myself in an effort to create a Myers mask I was happy with, and this year, I had completed the "Rage" mask, based off of the Halloween 4 poster mask. We had more decorations, and I had built both a Regan from "The Exorcist," and our own Ghoul. I started selling my masks online via a website, and on ebay.
Growth
2002 was our first major leap towards a full on yard haunt. With help from a few friends, we had about 6 monsters on the roster. It was also the first video I edited for YouTube.
Since that time, we've grown exponentially each year to where we are today. Throughout the years we took on many different names. Off the top of my head, some of them were (in no particular order),
- Mask Creations
- Smith's Grove Sanitarium
- The Monster Shop
- Paper Target FX
- Killer Masks
- The Casket Stuffer
- Morningside Sanitarium
- The Fourth Ring
We had also moved homes a few times since 2003. The 2000 through 2002 haunts were in our first home. Then we moved to Florida in 2003. This caused us to miss doing the haunt in 2003. Then in 2004 we were living in Florida, and had to once again miss the Holiday due to a funeral we came back to Michigan for. And as such, 2005 was in Florida, 2006 another home back in Michigan, 2007 yet another home, 2008 and 2009 into yet one more move, and finally, 2010 to present in our current location of Dean and Joan streets in Taylor, MI
During the better portion of these years, I have ran a website selling my masks as well as on eBay. I stopped making masks to sell sometime around 2003 or 2004 when we made the move to Florida. I made a few runs of the H20 hero mask around that time up into maybe 2007, and since then I really only make them for my haunt when I need them. The current state of my shop consists of other props and 3D print files and similar items.
"The Fourth Ring" is our current incarnation. I've been wanting something original that could include a fictional backstory including characters created and designed to match. And this, the beginning of 2026, is that time.
